This role is crucial for developing the next generation of Finance and Accounting leaders who will support GM’s global portfolio, craft business solutions, and solve meaningful issues within a collaborative “One Team” culture.The TL;DR• Role: Early Career• Type: Full-time• Location: Hybrid Warren, MI or Detroit, MI• Team: The Controllership (Accounting) organization, offering rotations in Controllership, Audit, and/or Tax.• Mission: To support and coordinate the General Motors global portfolio by crafting and implementing timely business solutions, while reinforcing financial integrity and accountability.• Tech Stack: Sophisticated Excel, financial modeling, financial valuation skills.What You’ll Actually Do• Support: Coordinate with diverse teams across the global portfolio to craft and implement timely business solutions.• Analyze: Perform analyses on transactions for appropriate accounting treatment, consolidate, and report company results.• Develop: Acquire broad financial and accounting skills through average 12-month rotations within different accounting functions, producing future Finance and Accounting leaders.• Partner: Serve as a strategic business partner to increase transparency, improve efficiency, shorten decision cycle times, and reinforce financial integrity.• Present: Assemble data, conduct sophisticated analyses, and present recommendations to senior GM executives, including at least one project requiring these skills.The Must-Haves• Background: Entry-level position requiring pursuit of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.• Experience: Must be graduating with a Bachelor’s degree or a Bachelor’s degree plus additional CPA required coursework or a Master’s degree (total 150 hours) between December 2026 and June 2027, and available to start full time in June 2027.• Skills: Knowledge of corporate finance principles including the ability to analyze balance sheets, income statements, cash flow, and capital structure; familiarity with basic or advanced accounting principles; sophisticated Excel skills, and strong modeling and financial valuation skills.• Bonus: Currently pursuing a CPA; demonstrated leadership in academics, extracurricular activities, or service organizations; strong analytical skills.
