Job summary

Trajectory Energy Partners, a solar energy and energy storage developer, seeks a Finance/Accounting Analyst to support financial operations, reporting, and accounting processes. This detail-oriented role translates financial data into actionable insights for management and project teams.

Based in the Chicago area with flexibility for remote work several days a week and in-office collaboration 2–3 days, the role offers a salary range of $70,000 to $80,000 depending on experience, plus benefits

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks, NetSuite or similar).
• Strong Excel skills including pivot tables and modeling.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft 365.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet close deadlines.
• Ability to translate financial information for non-finance teammates.
• Interest in energy or renewables is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance.
• Assist monthly close processes with journal entries, reconciliations, and intercompany transactions.
• Aid audit preparation with organized financial records.
• Maintain accounting policies and workflows for consistency across the organization.
• Assist with tax filings, compliance reporting, and coordination with external accountants.
• Support annual budgeting and forecasting with cross-functional inputs.

Trajectory Energy Partners, a solar energy and energy storage development company, is seeking a Finance / Accounting Analyst to support and strengthen our financial operations, reporting, and accounting processes. This detail-oriented role is suited to a professional committed to financial accuracy and skilled at translating financial data into actionable insights.Trajectory works with communities across the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic to develop distributed solar, utility-scale solar projects, and energy storage projects. Specific responsibilities include:

Accounting Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance.
• Assist in monthly close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and intercompany transactions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Help with audit preparation by maintaining organized, well-documented financial records.
• Maintain documentation for accounting policies, procedures, and workflows - ensuring consistency across the organization.
• Assist with tax filings, compliance reporting, and coordination with external accountants as needed.
• Support the annual budgeting and forecasting process, coordinating inputs from across the organization.

Finance Responsibilities

• Track and update model assumptions based on market data, vendor quotes, and internal development milestones.
• Collaborate with development, transaction and legal teams to ensure models reflect current project status and commercial terms.
• Support debt and tax equity financing processes, including preparing materials for lenders and investors and responding to diligence requests.

Experience and Background:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; CPA or progress toward CPA is a plus.
• Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar platforms.
• Strong Excel skills; comfortable building and maintaining financial models, pivot tables, and reporting templates.
• Proficient with Google Suite and Microsoft 365 (Excel, SharePoint, Teams) and cloud-based document management tools such as Box.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously - balancing recurring close deadlines with ad hoc requests without things slipping through the cracks.
• Clear communicator who can translate financial information for non-finance teammates and leadership.
• Knowledge or interest in energy or renewable energy development is preferred.
