Job Description

Position: Final Line Mechanic II at Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation, Savannah

Experience and Education: High School Diploma or GED required. 3 years of aerospace/aviation or equivalent mechanical experience such as auto mechanics or heavy equipment. A&P (FAA Airframe and Powerplant) license preferred.

Position Purpose: In a team-oriented environment, install parts and components, lines, cables, etc., using required tools, prints, specifications, and operational requirements to complete work through final inspection, ensuring conformance to specifications. May assist in instructing or mentoring junior mechanics.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Assemble, install, and adjust aircraft structure parts and system components, including rigging control cables, sectors, linkages, control surfaces, landing gear, doors, engines, cowls, and hardware.
  2. Remove and replace system components, cut and fit system lines and hardware for repairs.
  3. Ensure quality and efficiency of all installations, meeting requirements and performing rework if necessary.
  4. Install system lines, valves, ducts, and hardware, ensuring leak-free systems.
  5. Utilize various tools and equipment such as permaswage pumps, dies, line cutting tools, wrenches, gauges, etc., to complete components and minor structural installations.
  6. Assist in troubleshooting mechanical and structural issues for repairs.
  7. Update and sign logs and records as required.
  8. Check own work and, if applicable, review junior mechanics' work to ensure defect-free installations before final inspection.
  9. Maintain a clean and organized work area, support FOD and 5S programs, and adhere to safety regulations.
  10. Demonstrate Gulfstream competencies in employee effectiveness reviews.
  11. Maintain logs such as MIR sheets, DMTs, Crabs, PCOs, etc.
  12. Support continuous improvement initiatives.
Additional Functions:
  • Support aircraft certification and final testing, including flight tests as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Requirements:
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs, work in restricted spaces, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Experience with Solumina and Smarteam preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics, and use all necessary tools.
  • Skilled in close tolerance work, including drilling, reaming, and ship fitting.
  • Ability to operate hydraulic pumps, fixtures, and jigs.
