Job summary

Cleaver-Brooks in Thomasville, GA is seeking an entry-level Final Assembly Technician – Piper to build and install boiler components for test firing. You will follow work instructions and perform defined tasks under supervision, developing hands-on skills in a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble burner drawers and air compressors. Cut pipe nipples for ¼” to 4” pipe and use the tube bending machine for all applications.
  • Mount the components on the CB, CBE, CBLE, CBW, CBX and CEW front heads including control panel, motor base, electrical components and conduit, air hood and all oil and gas piping.
  • Mount the following equipment on all size boilers: gas train, oil piping, air lines, blowdown, water column and air compressor.
  • Must be able to read prints and wire all applications in the head shop, including motors and all 24, 110, 208, 230, 460 and 575 voltage components.
  • Mount all components in E-box and control panels and completely wire all components by using the E.M.S. and wiring diagram.
  • Able to pipe and test gas trains, water columns, starter trains and pilot trains.
  • Able to wire all CB boilers and components; including but not limited to front head to junction or E-box, from E-box to pressure control air compressor, from E-box to oil pumps, gas trains and aqua stats. Also mount and wire all sizes of disconnects.
  • Able to fit and hang front and rear doors for all sizes and models of boilers.
  • Must know, understand and abide by all plant safety rules and regulations.
  • Perform any other job duties as directed by the Cell Leader or Foreman.

In this entry-level role, you’ll support the final stages of our manufacturing process by building and installing component parts on boiler heads and boilers in preparation for test firing. Job Summary

The Final Assembly Technician – Piper is responsible for building and installing component parts on boiler heads and boilers in preparation for test firing. This entry-level position performs defined assembly tasks by following established work instructions, specifications, and procedures, with work completed under appropriate guidance and supervision.

Your Responsibilities

In addition to successfully performing to standards all duties listed under the Trainee position, the employee must be fully competent in meeting production and quality standards in a minimum of three (3) of the cells listed below:

  • Assemble burner drawers and air compressors. Cut pipe nipples for ¼” to 4” pipe and use the tube bending machine for all applications.

Physical Skills and Efforts
  • Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. chest high on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to work up to 12 hours standing and walking on a hard cement surface.
  • Will be required to regularly bend, stretch, stoop, squat and climb ladders up to 8 feet high.
  • Must be able to climb stairs.
  • Must be able to work in temperature ranges corresponding with the outside ambient temperatures. Must be able to access all areas of the plant both inside and outside.
Working Conditions and Hazards

Will be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, welding fumes, natural gas, fuel oils, and machine lubricants and/or oils. Must be able and willing to work with and properly use all necessary and/or required personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed shoes and fall protection.

Do You Qualify
  • High school education or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Must have good reading, writing and math skills.
  • Technical training as an industrial electrician preferred.
  • Minimum of six (6) months as a Trainee or one (1) year of electrical and/or plumbing/piping experience in related manufacturing environment.
