Job summary

Cleaver-Brooks, Inc. is seeking a Field Services Control Technician to wire, test, and fire boilers in shop and field environments. You will assemble control panels, rebuild regulators, and start up rental boilers, ensuring customer equipment readiness.

The role requires reading blueprints, troubleshooting boiler controls, and training others. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with three years boiler experience and a strong mechanical/electrical background preferred.

Qualifications

  • Minimum three years boiler experience with PLCs, transformers, transmitters and boiler controls.
  • Ability to read blueprints and wiring schematics.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical background.

Responsibilities

  • Wire all controls and motors for watertube and firetube boilers and auxiliary equipment.
  • Rebuild control valves and regulators.
  • Build and test control panels using wiring schematics and layout.
  • Build and test fuel skids, condensate tanks and deaerators.
  • Troubleshoot, fire and set combustion on various boiler types.
  • Perform start-up of rental boilers in the field.
  • Read blueprints and schematics; follow instructions and safety procedures.
  • Train other employees on boiler operation and controls.
  • Maintain tools and inventory; adhere to company policies.

Job Summary:

The Field Services Control Technician willbe responsible forwiring, firing, and testing boilers in the shop &field. This positionis responsible forthe readiness ofthecustomerequipment.



  • Wire all controls and motors forwatertubeand firetube boilers and auxiliary equipment.

  • Rebuild control valves and regulators.

  • Build and test control panel using Engineering wiringschematicand layout.

  • Build and test fuel skids using Engineering wiring schematic and layout.

  • Build and test condensate tanks and deaerators.

  • Trim out firetube andwatertubeboilers.

  • Perform start-up of Rental boilers in field.

  • Assistdepartments asrequired.

  • Reads blueprints and wiring schematics.

  • Able to trouble shoot, fire, and set combustion on all types of boilers, including but not limited toboilerwith superheaters, desuperheaters, and economizers.

  • Determinesvalve trim, regulator size and spring, oil gun length and size, and all other parts and accessories needed to fire any boiler.

  • Able to fire and set combustion on boiler with all types of pneumatic controls.

  • Able to fire and set combustion on boiler with all types of electrical controls.

  • Able to train otheremployee’son the operation and controls of boilers.

  • Maintaincondition ofand inventory of all tools and monitors.

  • Apply intellect, creativity, adaptability, judgment, and management skills to achieve required results.

  • Ensure duties and company projects are accomplished in an efficient andcost effectivemanner.

  • Support peers and management with internal and external projects.

  • Adhere to company policies.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Education:

High School diploma or equivalent, TechDegree preferred.


Experience:

Minimum three(3) years of boiler experience required working with PLC’s, transformers,transmittersand other boiler controls.


Other Requirements:


  • Mustpossessa validdriverslicense with a safe driving record without restrictions

  • Mustbe able to read and work from blueprints and schematics.

  • Mustbe able to follow written and verbal instructions.

  • Musthave a broad knowledge of boiler controls.

  • Mechanical and electrical backgrounda must.

  • Must have the ability to trouble shoot boilers and auxiliary equipment.

  • Must be able to retrofit control systems in the field.

  • Must have the ability and knowledge to trouble shoot systems without theappropriate schematic.


Physical Skill and Effort:

Requires stooping, climbing, bending, crawling, and lifting 50 pounds, working in confined and elevated areas, and prolonged standing.


Working Conditions and Hazards:

Some work in physical plantenvironmentwhere plant orientation may berequiredand safety precautions arerequired. Mayencountersome unpleasant working conditions of brief duration. Little to no contact with hazardous conditions.
