Job summary

Hentzen Coatings, Inc. in Milwaukee, WI is seeking a Filling Operator for the Monday–Friday 1st shift (7:00 AM–3:30 PM). You will fill, label and package containers to specification and enter data into the computer, supporting production efficiency and quality.

The role requires basic math, ability to follow instructions, and teamwork. Preferred HS diploma and manufacturing experience; forklift certification is strongly preferred.

  • Basic math and measurement conversion skills required.
  • Forklift certification strongly preferred and pallet jack experience helpful.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and contribute to group goals.
  • Ability to receive and follow instructions in a positive manner.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and hook up equipment to fill containers to a specified weight using a specified filter medium.
  • Clean production vessels as required.
  • Complete proper documentation (e.g., fill slip) and enter data into computer.
  • Identify product and batch numbers.
  • Clean up and properly store equipment; follow housekeeping procedures.
  • Handle hazardous materials under supervision and with proper PPE.
  • Dispose of hazardous waste per Environmental and Safety guidelines; annual training provided.
  • Comply with quality, safety, and work rules/regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Filling Operator

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 1 st shift, (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM)

Pay Range:$19.00 - $22.00 per hour (based on experience and qualifications).

Position Summary

The Filling Operator performs all operations required to fill, label and package containers with the final product.

  • Assemble and hook up required equipment in order to fill containers to a specified weight using a specified filter medium.
  • Cleans production vessels as required.
  • Complete proper documentation (such as a fill slip) correctly and accurately. Enter data into computer.
  • Identify product numbers and corresponding batch numbers.
  • Clean up and properly store equipment used. Follow all clean-up and housekeeping procedures.
  • Under supervision and with proper PPE, the employee will be required to handle hazardous materials.
  • As part of the housekeeping procedures, the employee may be involved with the disposal of hazardous waste. The initial training of how to properly dispose of hazardous waste will be performed by the Environmental and Safety department or the department supervisor. Annual training of the same will be performed by the EHS department.
  • Comply with all quality, safety, and work rules and regulations.
  • Clean up equipment and properly store equipment.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Qualification Requirements

  • Preferred education level: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred experience level: Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.

Skills and Abilities

  • Basic math skills and the ability to convert various measurements (i.e., gallons to quarts, pints to gallons, etc.) required.
  • Forklift certification is strongly preferred and the ability to use a pallet jack.
  • Ability to communicate with others, both verbally and written.
  • Willing to work in a team environment and contribute to group goals.
  • Ability to receive and provide instructions in a positive manner.
  • Color tinting and Quality Control experience helpful but not required.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to communicate verbally and audibly in a manufacturing or operational setting.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, and move throughout the work area.
  • Regular use of hands and fingers to handle, manipulate, and control objects, tools, or equipment.
  • Required to sit, balance, stoop, and occasionally reach above shoulder level.
  • Occasional operation of machinery using foot controls
  • May be required to climb, balance, and reach overhead as part of job duties.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 65 lbs.

  • Safety shoes, safety glasses, and flame-retardant uniforms or lab coats are required in production areas.
