Job summary

Responsibilities

• Carry out day-to-day operations and maintenance of the facility and equipment for youth sporting events, concerts, and special events.
• Maintain artificial fields and turf, including painting lines and minor repairs.
• Maintain all equipment such as goals, nets, and benches.
• Provide exceptional guest services and lead or participate in guest-services meetings and training.
• Set up pre-event walks with leaders to ensure client readiness.
• Manage client/vendor storage areas; adapt hours per event needs; enforce safety protocols.
• Coordinate with Sport Directors for client site visits and ensure information is secured.
• Engage with potential clients to advise on facility requirements and park policies.
• Oversee communication and dissemination of event information to departments and staff.
• Serve as liaison for clients contracted at the facility to ensure high guest services.
• Make immediate decisions and communicate with users during emergencies.
• Work in fast-paced environment; extended hours including nights, weekends, holidays.

Arizona Athletic Grounds (AAG) is one of the largest youth-oriented sports and event facilities in the United States, located in Mesa, AZ. The campus features a 2,500+ seat outdoor stadium, 24 multi-purpose fields, 62 indoor/beach volleyball courts, 41 pickleball courts, 16 basketball courts, and 8 baseball/softball diamonds, hosting professional soccer, top-tier basketball and volleyball, professional boxing and MMA, baseball, national pickleball competitions, cheer and gymnastics showcases, concerts, festivals, and a wide range of special events serving millions of visitors each year.

Position Summary

Seeking a team-oriented individual that will be responsible for assisting in the operational planning, coordinating, execution and supervision of assigned youth and special events. This position will be guest facing and requires the ability to communicate and engage with the public with a laser focus on delivering a world class guest experience.

The Fields Complex Manager will lead a small group, partnering heavily with internal/external partners and department heads for operational schedule planning covering the needs for event services staff both full and part time, coordinate and participate in venue set ups, strikes and conversions to ensure events are show ready while delivering an exceptional guest experience for a diverse group of guest/clients in the youth, amateur/collegiate, professional, and special events space.

KEY Responsibilities

• Carrying out day-to-day operations and maintenance of the facility and equipment for youth sporting events, concerts, and special events.
• Maintaining artificial fields including painting and scrubbing field lines, performing minor artificial turf repairs, and ensuring fields remain safe, presentable, and ready for use.
• Maintain all equipment in the facility including but not limited to soccer goals, soccer nets, and benches.
• Exhibit and deliver exceptional guest services to all AAG visitors, users, vendors, and internal partners. Participate and at times lead guests services meetings and training sessions.
• Set up pre-event walks with leaders to ensure event is ready for the client
• Manage client/vendor storage areas onsite. Event-based hours will change due to the event's needs. Ensure safety protocols are being upheld for a safe environment.
• Collaborate and partner with Sport Directors for client site visits/meetings to ensure all pertinent event information is secured.
• Participate with calls and meet with potential clients and advise them on the facility requirements, safety protocols, park policies and procedures.
• Oversees all the communication and advancement of event information to the appropriate departments and staff
• Serves as a liaison for all AAG clients contracted at the facility to ensure the highest level of guest services for all external service providers.
• Have the ability to make immediate decisions and communicate with all users of the facility in an emergency situation
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
• Work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays as needed.

Qualifications & REQUIREMENTS

• Experience working at a sports complex for soccer, basketball, baseball/softball, volleyball, pickleball, beach volleyball, etc.
• Related experience and/or training in the parks and recreation/sports industry preferred
• Experience with customer service
• Must show demonstrated knowledge supervisory skills, and experience in part-time work crew supervision in facility operations
• Forklift certified preferred or ability to be certified
• Ability to work event nights, weekends and holidays as required
• Knowledge of general business software and aptitude to learn new applications; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• The duties of this position are performed indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions prevalent at the time
• Prolong periods of standing and walking, including periodic kneeling, bending, lifting, pushing, & pulling
