Job summary

BearCom in Redondo Beach, CA is seeking an experienced Service Technician to diagnose, repair, program, and install Motorola, Kenwood, ICOM, and Vertex equipment for two-way radio systems.

The role involves basic programming codeplugs, mobile installations, troubleshooting, and potential regional travel and on-call hours. On-the-job training is provided and advancement opportunities exist.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Service Technician experience diagnosing, repairing, programming and installing Motorola, Kenwood, ICOM, Vertex equipment in the 2-way radio field.
• Deep knowledge of 2-way radio theory and RF propagation across frequency bands.
• Ability to read schematics, blueprints and diagrams.
• Experience with battery backup, base stations, repeaters, DAS/BDA systems.
• Proficiency with MS Office; valid driver's license.
• Certification credentials such as CET, R56 are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Create Basic Programming Codeplugs (less than 12 channels).
• Perform Basic Mobile Installations (radio, antenna, modem, DC-DC converters).
• Troubleshoot and repair defective two-way radios and related equipment.
• Possibility of regional/overnight travel and on-call hours.
