Job summary

Thompson Engineering is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to join our inspection and quality assurance team in Houston, TX. The role involves performing welding inspections across diverse construction and industrial projects and traveling to multiple sites as needed.

You will verify compliance with AWS, ASME, API, and project specs, document inspection findings, coordinate NDT activities, and communicate results to project managers and clients.

Qualifications

• Current AWS CWI certification
• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred
• Welding inspection experience is preferred (3+ years)
• Willingness to travel frequently

Responsibilities

• Perform visual welding inspections per codes and specs (AWS, ASME, API)
• Verify WPS, PQR, and welder qualifications
• Prepare inspection records and daily field reports
• Coordinate and monitor NDT activities as needed
• Communicate findings to project managers and clients
