Job summary

Ames Construction, Inc. is seeking a Welder/Piledriver for part-time work at Clyde, NC and Granite Quarry, NC sites. You will operate pile-driving equipment, weld structural components, and read blueprints to ensure accurate installations.

This role requires welding proficiency, ability to work with cranes and rigging, and a commitment to safety. You’ll collaborate with crane operators and crew, perform inspections, and adapt to field conditions on challenging civil projects.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience in pile driving, structural welding or related fields.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Welding qualification tests may be required by project specifications.

Responsibilities

• Operate and assist with pile-driving equipment, cranes, hammers, vibratory drivers, and related construction machinery.
• Install steel piles, H-piles, pipe piles, sheet piles, and other deep foundation systems.
• Perform structural welding, fabrication, cutting, and fitting using SMAW, FCAW, and other approved welding processes.
• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, specifications, and survey layouts.
• Measure, align, and position piles and structural members to ensure proper installation.
• Inspect welds and completed installations to ensure compliance with project requirements and applicable codes.
• Work closely with crane operators, laborers, carpenters, ironworkers, and other craft personnel.
