Job summary

State of South Carolina's Orangeburg Maintenance Unit seeks a skilled technician to maintain and repair vehicles and equipment. You will respond to field service calls, diagnose issues, and complete repairs, including welding as needed.

The role requires 1.5 years of related experience or an approved equivalence, a valid driver's license, and the ability to obtain a Class A CDL within six months. Work may occur in inclement weather and extended shifts.

Qualifications

• 1.5 years of work experience directly related to the area of employment.
• Completion of 1 academic year of SC Automotive Technology or Diesel Engine curriculum may substitute for 6 months of experience.
• Valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
• Must obtain Class A CDL within 6 months of placement.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment.
• Respond to field service calls for vehicle and equipment repair.
• Assess severity of problems and perform necessary repairs.
• Perform welding techniques in repairing equipment.
• Work during inclement weather and may work extended hours (e.g., 12-hour shifts).
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
