Job summary

Hawaii Water Service is seeking a Utility Operator to handle field operations and maintenance in the wastewater sector. The role involves working under supervision while showing independence, judgment and initiative in daily tasks and customer interactions.

Responsibilities include cleaning facilities, inspecting systems, handling pump and valve operations, and assisting with treatment plant and pump station repairs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Knowledge of operation, maintenance and repair of pumps and related equipment; knowledge of water/wastewater systems and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Performs general clean-up of grounds and facilities.
• Inspects services and facilities and investigates complaints.
• Flushes and services mains, collection lines and manholes; collects wastewater samples.
• Reads runtime, event and electric meters; assists with repairs at treatment plants and pump stations.
• Completes necessary paperwork and supports after-hours and weekend emergency work.

Education
