Job summary

The City of Forest Hill is seeking a reliable Meter Reader/Utility Maintenance worker to accurately read meters and maintain records for proper billing. The role also covers general utility maintenance, including water break repairs, sewer line upkeep, and equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities include reading meters, recording readings, handling meter boxes, and assisting with on-call emergency responses. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and a valid TX driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in utility maintenance or related field preferred.
• Valid Texas driver’s license required.
• TCEQ Class D Water Operator license preferred at hire; if not held, must be obtained within 18 months.

Responsibilities

• Read meters on assigned routes and record readings accurately and on schedule.
• Maintain and replace meters, meter boxes, and curb stops; test meters for accuracy.
• Submit records of defective equipment and replacements for billing purposes.
• Order supplies and prepare purchase orders; prepare reports as needed.
• Operate light trucks and hand tools; perform general maintenance work as instructed.
• Assist in repairing water breaks and unclogging sewer lines; drive pickups.
