NORTHERN LIGHTS LOCATING AND INSPECTION, INC. is seeking a full-time Utility Locator to locate underground utilities under 811 dig laws, using maps, GIS data, and locating equipment. You will flag or paint sites and prepare reports documenting work and any issues encountered for clients.

Candidates must have 2 years locator experience, be able to travel 75%+, pass a drug screen, possess a valid driver's license, and obtain a DOT medical certification; on-call rotation is included.

Qualifications

• 2 years locator experience required.
• Read and interpret utility maps and as-built civil engineering drawings.
• Know best locate practices, procedures and 811 law.
• Be comfortable with using cell-phone based app to record locating marks.

Responsibilities

• Locate underground utilities for clients and property owners based on 811 tickets per 811 dig laws.
• Use maps, as-built drawings, GIS information, and locating equipment.
• Utilize flags and/or paint to mark locations.
• Prepare reports, forms, and memos documenting work and issues encountered.
• Take pictures of located utility lines for each ticket.
• Investigate and document excavations that damage utilities.
• Be comfortable with a cell phone app to record locating marks and documents.
• Participate in on-call rotation.
