Job summary

The Energy Cooperative in Hebron, OH seeks a Laborer to join our Service Center as an entry-level, non-exempt member of the bargaining unit. You will support crew tasks in trenching, pipe fusion, and mains installation and repair, under supervision.

You will learn to operate line locators and other tools, keep work areas safe, and gain exposure to multiple field classifications while performing daily labor with safety and teamwork at the forefront.

Qualifications

• Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED; at least one year related experience in the natural gas industry.
• Certifications, Licenses and/or Training: Valid Ohio Driver’s License; CDL preferred.
• Language Skills: Ability to deal with the public in a pleasant, follow written and oral instructions.
• Other Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of construction tools and safety procedures; able to lift heavy objects.

Responsibilities

• Assist crew with opening/closing trenches and loading/unloading materials.
• Fuse plastic pipe and fittings according to company procedures.
• Assist installation and repair of mains and services.
• Keep tools and equipment clean and ready for use.
• Perform site cleanup and support other crew members as needed.
• Learn to operate line locators, gas instruments, and other tools used in field work.
• Adapt to emergencies and maintain safety practices.
