Job description

Kodiak Robotics, Inc. was founded in 2018 and has become a leader in autonomous ground transportation committed to a safer and more efficient future for all. The company has developed an artificial intelligence (AI) powered technology stack purpose-built for commercial trucking and the public sector. The company delivers freight daily for its customers across the southern United States using its autonomous technology. In 2024, Kodiak became the first known company to publicly announce delivering a driverless semi-truck to a customer. Kodiak is also leveraging its commercial self-driving software to develop, test and deploy autonomous capabilities for the U.S. Department of Defense.

We are looking for AV Fleet Technicians to join us in maintaining and repairing our vehicles out in the Permian Basin in West Texas.

In this role, you will:
  • Be responsible for maintenance and modifications to autonomous vehicle platforms, including trucks, trailers, and autonomous systems
  • Repair modular and sub-systems and related harnesses on the bench and in-vehicle
  • Inspect and certify the operational health of trucks, trailers, and Autonomous Vehicle platforms
  • Work closely with design and validation engineers to aid in the development of hardware systems
  • Execute work according to scheduled preventative maintenance and demand of related upkeep programs
  • Support material staging and workflow readiness for remote tasks and field based teams
  • Provide technical coverage when needed in other locations
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment
  • Coordinate the replenishment and distribution of consumed items used in maintaining vehicle operations.
What you'll bring:
  • Ability to read, inspect and implement directions, as outlined and depicted in Electrical Harness Diagrams and Mechanical Prints
  • Experience with industry based tooling including specialized electrical and mechanical tooling such as: wire crimpers, multimeters, oscilloscopes, torque wrenches, fabrication tooling and hand tools.
  • Proficient with diagnostic instrumentation related to trucks and the ability to perform failure analysis on related components
  • Solid hands-on background. The ability to rely on previous experience or training to inspect and identify defects and failures on complex systems. These range from visual to operational in nature and can generate aptitude in learning Autonomous Vehicle diagnostics and repair
  • Reliability and consistency. You have a track record of meticulous work. You are comfortable developing and practicing methodical service through the use of checklists, protocols, and work documentation
  • Clear communication. You are comfortable providing feedback to engineers, and sharing insights with the team at large to improve products and processes. You know how to collaborate, and when to get secondary inspection and review for safety-critical decisions
  • Innovative mindset. You like to find ways to improve the system you are working on. You can solve problems and complete tasks even when the path to the solution is not clear at the outset
  • Flexibility for working hours and days. Daytime/night/weekend shifts are being hired for. Periodic travel back to main locations for short term cross training and support.
  • Experience in the energy sector is a bonus
What we offer:
  • Housing provided
  • 14/7 ROTATION
  • OT Available
  • Full Benefits
  • & More!
