Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) is seeking a Transportation Construction Inspector in Virginia to apply standard inspection procedures to ongoing construction for structural quality, safety, and conformance to plans and codes. Work is in the field with exposure to outdoor conditions; candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent and 1–4 years of roadway inspection experience.

A valid driver's license and ability to pass JMT's motor vehicle screening are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–4 years of roadway construction inspection experience.
• Preferred certifications include VDOT soils & aggregate, asphalt I & II, pavement marking, and DEQ inspector credentials.

Responsibilities

• Review plans and site layouts to ensure compliance with plans, specs and safety regulations.
• Performs routine tests on concrete, soils and other materials.
• Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement.
• Gathers and maintains record documents.
• Makes field notes and computations.
