Job summary

Charlotte County is seeking a technically oriented field role focused on collecting and analyzing traffic data to support Traffic Engineering studies and transportation planning. You will install and maintain traffic counters, road tubes, cameras, radar units, and related equipment across county roadways.

In addition to fieldwork, you will organize data, prepare reports, and assist with studies related to speed zones and signal locations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of experience in collecting traffic, civil engineering, or related data.
• Working knowledge of civil and traffic engineering principles.

Responsibilities

• Collect and analyze traffic data to support engineering studies.
• Install and maintain traffic counters, road tubes, cameras, radar units, and related equipment.
• Prepare reports and memorandums from field data and observations.
• Investigate citizen requests and provide information per state and federal requirements.
• Read and interpret technical plans and specifications to identify issues.
• Operate data collection equipment and GIS tools for data maintenance and reporting.
