Job summary

Sage Ag Inc. in Fresno is seeking hardworking, self-motivated individuals to join a team testing autonomous tractors for orchard work.

You will travel regionally 50-80% across California with potential nationwide travel, working with engineers, technicians, and customers to monitor operations and gather test data. The role emphasizes safe operation of highly automated equipment, timely software updates, communication with cooperators, and meticulous record keeping.

Qualifications

• Minimum 250 hours operating agricultural machinery.
• GPA of 2.5 in Ag major; AST/Ag Eng preferred.
• Willing to travel six weeks or more at a time.
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License with clean record.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work long hours, some night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Ensure highly automated machine is operational and safe within restrictions.
• Communicate with test cooperators (farmers) to ensure satisfaction.
• Set up the automated vehicle – record field boundaries and plan paths.
• Perform basic script and command prompt execution.
• Troubleshoot equipment, report defects and update displays/vehicle software.
• Gather CAN data, crop conditions and test data; upload to software engineers.
• Perform frequent software updates to autonomous vehicles and imaging equipment.
• Coordinate maintenance and repair of large ag equipment.

Sage Ag Inc. is currently seeking hardworking, self-motivated, & detailed oriented individuals who are passionateabout agriculture & machinery. Through this position, you will be working with a major agriculturalmachinery manufacturer in an experimental field test environment. This position is 50-80% regional travel throughoutCalifornia and the opportunity for nationwide travel. You will be working independently and as a team withengineers, technicians, and customers on the cutting edge of agricultural machinery technology. In this excitingposition, you will be working with a team to test and monitor the operations of an autonomous tractors performing orchard work.

Responsibilities:

• Ensuring a highly automated machine is operational and operating in a safe manner within imposedrestrictions.
• Responsible for communication with test cooperators (farmers) while ensuring their satisfaction withthe job being done.
• Responsible for set-up of the highly automated vehicle – such as Recording field boundaries and makingpath plans.
• Understand and perform basic script and command prompt execution.
• Professional communication skills
• Troubleshooting equipment, debugging, defect reporting.
• Technically capable of updating display and vehicle controller software.
• Gathering critical machine CAN information, crop condition, and test data collection
• Gathering imaging data and uploading data to software engineers
• Performing frequent software updates to autonomous vehicles and imaging equipment
• Responsible for executing and/or coordinating the maintenance and repair of large ag equipment

Requirements

• Minimum of 250 hours of agricultural machinery operation
• Minimum GPA of 2.5 in an Ag major; preferably AST or Ag Engineering, or related major with equivalentproduction Ag experience
• Mechanically inclined
• Strong knowledge of precision agriculture equipment
• Strong technology and computer troubleshooting skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Willing to travel for six weeks or more at a time
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License w/ clean driving record
• Out-going and positive attitude
• Proficient with Microsoft Office
• Ability to work in a team environment & alone
• Ability to work long hours, some night operation will be necessary
• Ability to keep accurate & detailed records of work performed

Details:

• Job Duration: Full TimeLocation: Fresno, StocktonCompensation: Salary Range: $70,000-75,000, plus bonuses based on experience.
