What's great in the job?
  • You get the full picture:Instead of being "the person who fixes Section Control" and never seeing the end results, you get to follow projects from start to finish - from installation, to training the farmer, to watching their yields improve. That makes the work more rewarding and gives you a stronger sense of ownership.
  • You build stronger relationships :You're not just "the tech from the dealership." You get to know your customers, their operations, and their challenges personally. That trust means they call you first - and listen to your advice - which makes you feel like a true partner in their success.
  • You're part of a tight-knit team:In small companies, there's less red tape and more camaraderie. Everyone's pulling in the same direction, and when a big job comes in, its "all hands on deck".
  • You see your impact right away:When your work helps a farmer save time, cut costs, or boost yields, you hear about it directly.
  • You adapt fast and stay sharp:Because you're handling a wide range of brands, equipment, and situations, you develop the ability to troubleshoot anything on the fly. That kind of flexibility is a superpower in precision ag.
  • You wear a lot of hats - and that's a good thing:You're not boxed into a single task. One day you might be setting up RTK base stations, the next you're troubleshooting a planter's variable rate system, and the day after you're Soil Sampling.
  • You have real influence:In a small company, your ideas actually get heard. If you suggest a better way to calibrate a sprayer or a new tool for data processing, its not stuck in a months-long approval chain - it might be implemented next week.
