Job summary

Bedrock Robotics Inc in Texas is seeking a Proto-Town Test Ops intern to help run daily field tests on autonomous excavators and collect data that prove how the autonomy performs on real jobsites.

You’ll work with operators and autonomy engineers, build Python tooling for test setup and reporting, and help translate field results into faster validation and safer procedures.

The role requires pursuing a BS or MS in engineering, willingness to work outdoors in PPE, and strong documentation habits.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a BS or MS in engineering or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Hands-on experience with test hardware, instrumentation, or data acquisition.
• Working proficiency in Python for data processing, scripting, and automation.
• Basic electrical competence: multimeters, connectors, harnessing, reading a schematic.
• Willingness to work outdoors full-time at our field site, in PPE, on and around heavy equipment.
• Strong documentation habits and clear communication for traceable field results.

Responsibilities

• Help write Gen 3 test plans with hardware, controls, and autonomy engineers.
• Run structured field tests on autonomous and manually operated excavators, following safety procedures.
• Own data quality for campaigns: instrumentation and logging checks, review of recorded runs.
• Triaging issues in the field and writing tickets for engineering action promptly.
• Build Python tooling that automates test setup, data processing, and daily reporting.
• Turn learnings into better test procedures to speed up validation.
• Present campaign results and recommendations to engineering teams.
