Job summary

Grid Careers is seeking an Electrical Test Engineer or Technician to support testing, maintenance, troubleshooting and commissioning at substations and power plants across Georgia. This is a hands-on field role with travel within Georgia and surrounding states.

Required are hands-on testing experience, protective-relay knowledge, and the ability to read electrical diagrams. A degree in engineering or related field is preferred and a valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

Associate’s degree or higher in a relevant field.
Hands-on experience testing or commissioning high-voltage substations or power plants.
Experience with protective relays and protection-and-control systems.
Ability to read electrical drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams.

Responsibilities

Test, maintain and commission electromechanical and microprocessor protective relays.
Perform testing and troubleshooting on substation and power-plant electrical systems.
Test transformers, breakers, switchgear, batteries and AC/DC control circuits.
Perform primary and secondary injection testing using Omicron, Doble or Megger equipment.
Document test results and communicate findings to customers and project leadership.
Safely coordinate field activities without interrupting critical utility operations.
