Job summary

Hitachi Rail seeks a seasoned field integration professional to perform installation, testing and support for CBTC and non-CBTC equipment on rail projects. You will troubleshoot, document, and coordinate field activities across multiple teams.

The role requires 5–8+ years of relevant experience (or 4+ years with a Master's), strong English communication, and a disciplined, process-driven approach to ensure compliance with client procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field with 5-8+ years of relevant experience or Master's degree with 4+ years
  • Demonstrates broad knowledge through moderately complex assignments
  • Excellent organizational and written/verbal communication skills
  • Fluent in English (oral and written)
  • Field experience in rail transit installation, test or support environment is significant
  • Experience in support of field activities
  • Strong process orientation and discipline to ensure compliance with corporate and customer procedures
  • Critical thinking and ability to identify and implement efficiencies

Responsibilities

  • Performs on-site installation and maintenance of Non-CBTC and CBTC equipment for wayside systems
  • Initiates work processes per customer procedures
  • Identifies problems detected during tests and corrects them
  • Supports troubleshooting and repair of CBTC equipment
  • Provides support of test Carborne and Wayside activities and planning of field activities
  • Provides technical support in operation of wayside subsystems
  • Collaborates across departments during integration, commissioning and support
  • Documents test activities with informal and formal reports

Job Description


Perform integration and test activities comprising of field support of on-going project activities. Perform Field Change modification to existing Designs as needed; Perform field troubleshooting, maintenance in CBTC equipment such as vehicle and wayside systems, and other external tasks related to test documentation and formalization of reports.

Key Accountabilities
  • Performs on-site installation and maintenance of Non- CBTC and CBTC equipment for wayside systems
  • Initiates work process procedures as per customer process
  • Identify problems detected during tests and corrects them as required
  • Supports Troubleshooting and repair CBTC equipment as required
  • Provides support of test Carborne and Wayside activities and the planning of field activities
  • Provides technical support in all operational matters in the functionality of wayside subsystems
  • Works with diverse departments and becomes involved in all phases of integration, commissioning and support * Promotes customer relations / company credibility
  • Investigate/Troubleshoot system anomalies through analysis of data files, design documentation and interaction with development departments
  • Provide summaries and detailing of test activities in the form of both informal and formal test reports
Key Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in related field with a minimum of 5-8+ years of relevant experience or Master's degree in related field with 4+ years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrates and applies a broad knowledge of field of specialization through successful completion of moderately complex assignments
  • Excellent organizational and communications skills, both verbal and written, and good interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated fluency and understanding/comprehension in oral and written English
  • Field experience in a rail transit installation, test or support environment or similar technology application is of significance
  • Experience in support of field activities
  • Strong process orientation and discipline to ensure compliance with both Corporate and Customer procedures
  • Critical thinking, able to identify and implement better efficiencies and process improvements
  • Effective communication skills to interact professionally with all levels inside and outside the organization.
  • Flexibility to take on additional projects and adapt to changes in priorities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of automatic train control systems concepts and principles as well as current existing signaling standards
  • Working knowledge of safety standards and practices required at project site
  • Experience in installation and testing of train control systems
  • Experience in customer interaction and adapting of their processes
  • Working knowledge of Communication Based Train Control (CBTC) products with respect to installation support and testing a strong asset
  • Experience in deploying fixed block signaling systems a strong asset
  • Typically 1-2 years of successful experience in related field and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above
