Job summary

NiSource is seeking a Telecommunication & Control Field Engineer to support electric utility infrastructure in the United States. The role involves hands-on work with fiber optics, RF systems, SCADA, MPLS-TP, and carrier protection in the field.

The engineering ladder ranges from Engineer 1 to Senior Engineer, with salary bands from $69,900 to $170,300. Relocation assistance is available, and candidates must meet work authorization requirements and uphold NERC/CIP and IEEE standards.

Qualifications

• Understanding of fiber optics, RF, and SCADA systems.
• Knowledge of MPLS-TP, Ethernet/IP SCADA standards (DNP3, Modbus).
• Valid driver's license and ability to operate in field conditions.

Responsibilities

• Install, test, and troubleshoot field communication systems.
• Configure MPLS-TP nodes and network devices up to 100 Gbps.
• Analyze faults and improve system reliability.
• Lead field deployments of new technologies and mentor junior engineers.
• Support training for field personnel and participate in peer reviews.
