Job summary

NiSource is seeking a Telecommunication & Control Field Engineer to implement, test, operate and maintain advanced communication and control systems across electric utility infrastructure. Field duties include fiber optics, RF, SCADA, MPLS-TP, and FAN networks in field environments.

The role spans multiple engineering levels, offers relocation assistance, and requires driving and field mobility. Candidates should have bachelor-level engineering education and relevant experience; on-call duties

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Engineering Technology, Telecommunications, or related field.
Experience levels per engineer level as listed in the education section.
Valid driver’s license required.
Knowledge of fiber optics, RF, MPLS-TP, and SCADA standards.

Responsibilities

Install, test, and troubleshoot communication systems including fiber optics, microwave radios, RF networks, and SCADA components.
Configure RTU and network devices; validate MPLS-TP and FAN routing.
Analyze faults to identify root causes and implement fixes.
Lead field implementations and upgrade SCADA systems.
Mentor junior engineers and conduct peer reviews.
