We are looking for a Telecommunications Field Technician in our Frisco Office.

Location

Frisco, Texas – on‑site field work and occasional travel to local, regional, and interstate sites.

Responsibilities
  • General
    • Perform routine assignments with limited supervision.
    • Expand technical knowledge and field capabilities.
    • Coordinate with project staff.
    • Safely operate equipment and vehicles, including large vehicles with or without trailers.
    • Travel locally and out of state, including overnight stays.
    • Cross‑train to perform other field services (Telecommunications, Survey, SUE).
  • Safety + Compliance
    • Comply with safety procedures, SDS, EAP, PSP, JSA.
    • Follow QA/QC processes and identify hazards.
    • Use appropriate PPE and understand TCP.
    • Apply federal, state, and local codes and regulations.
  • Technical
    • Locate and verify utilities using advanced non‑destructive methods.
    • Document telecommunications cabling, fiber routes, and underground structures.
    • Conduct pole‑line inspections and measure duct banks, conduits, handholes, etc.
    • Access and work within manholes and underground vaults following confined‑space protocols.
    • Interpret and update as‑built drawings, utility maps, and construction prints.
    • Collect, validate, and submit field data via GPS, GIS, or mobile tools.
    • Produce and review CAD/GIS documentation.
    • Troubleshoot data inconsistencies and recommend adjustments.
    • Coordinate with utility owners, contractors, and inspectors.
    • Provide technical support to entry‑level technicians.
    • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NESC, and company standards.
    • Perform small‑cell site walks, photo documentation, and constructability checks.
    • Verify utility service for power and backhaul availability.
    • Document zoning, permitting, and adjacency constraints.
    • Provide permit‑package field inputs and collect pole loading details.
Requirements

Experience + Knowledge Skills Ability (KSA) – Intermediate (5+ years)

  • Knowledge of field operations, methods, safety, and environmental concerns for civil infrastructure.
  • Skills include use of industry‑standard tools, equipment, and software for field tasks and documentation.
  • Ability to safely operate equipment, travel locally, regionally, and interstate, and work in varying weather, terrain, and conditions.
Physical & Cognitive Requirements

Work is 80% outdoor, 20% indoor. Requires selective attention, communication skills, problem sensitivity, and physical coordination for activities such as lifting up to 50 lb, climbing, and operating tools.

Work Hours
  • Full‑time, 40 hours per week, with overtime as needed.
  • Standard hours Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:30 PM CST, with a 1‑hour unpaid lunch.
  • Field staff may have flexible hours based on project demand.
Work Location Flexibility

Hybrid schedule possible after training, per department policy.
