Job summary

Farnsworth Group, Inc. is seeking a Telecom/SUE Technician in our Charlotte office. The ideal candidate will work with our Utility Engineering Team on telecommunications and utility projects, performing site visits, preparing utility drawings, and providing office support.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license and insurable under company insurance.

Job description

Farnsworth Group is seeking a Telecom/SUE Technician in our Charlottle, TX office. Qualified candidates will work with our Utility Engineering Team in the locating, mapping, construction monitoring, drafting, design, and permitting of telecommunications and utility projects. Job duties will include performing site visits, preparing civil-based utility drawings, and occasionally assisting with permits. We are willing to train the right candidate to develop into an important member of our team.

What You'll Do

• Complete site visits including utility locating, GIS mapping, documentation of existing conditions, and manhole mapping
• Visit construction sites to monitor contractor safety and provide quality control to ensure the project is being built as specified
• Observe and document as-built conditions
• Provide office support for telecommunications and other utility projects using AutoCAD or other design software
• Occasional overnight travel

What You'll Need

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 2+ years of relevant experience as a technician
• Great attitude, willingness to learn, and team player
• Work both in office and field on construction site
• Valid driver’s license and insurable under company insurance
• Ability to work outside in varied weather and terrain conditions
• Ability to regularly lift up to 25 pounds, frequently lift up to 50 pounds, occasionally up to 100 pounds; role requires lifting, stooping, bending, stretching, walking, standing, climbing, pushing, pulling, and other physical exertion
• Encourages and supports a safety‑oriented culture

Nice to Haves

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Pre‑engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or related field
• Experience in telecommunications, fiber optic, or utility design or construction
• Experience in fiber optic, copper, or coax splicing
• Experience in Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) locating and/or surveying
• Familiarity with utility atlases/records and/or GIS programs
• Experience with AutoCAD, Microstation or ARAMIS
