Job description

Field Technician – Server Hardware(Remote – Los Angeles, CA)

We are looking for a Field Technician for a global B2B high-tech company. In this role, you will resolve hardware and software infrastructure (servers, network, storage, issues using systems analysis techniques and procedures to support customers’ data centers.

This is a 24-month (extensions likely), 40-hour-per-week role. This is a remote role in Los Angeles, CA.

This is a W2 role as a Stage 4 Solutions employee. Health benefits and 401K are offered.

Must have your own transportation. This role requires travelling to customer sites in the Los Angeles, CA area.

Must be able to work overtime if you are in an installation or rack / stack event.

Must be able to work weekends with advanced notice due to a customer installation schedule.

Responsibilities :

  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve issues within IT infrastructure including HPE & Multi-Vendor Enterprise systems, servers, storage, and networking.
  • Understanding of a Data Center IT Operations environment and the knowledge to use software tools to perform day-to-day functions and troubleshooting.
  • Able to perform high volume / low impact tasks efficiently and knowledgeably.
  • Provide installation and or break / fix support, including component replacement and hardware troubleshooting, while following detailed instructions.
  • Able to proficiently perform clearly defined data center support tasks with remote guidance.
  • Demonstrate hands-on practical knowledge of systems and procedures.
  • Operational management tasks including working to resolve escalations and clearing blocking issues to enable continued delivery of datacenter support activities.
  • Resident Responsibilities :
  • When assigned as a resident, the CE shall perform other tasks as assigned and directed by the local customer. The assigned tasks will be consistent with the specific SOW governing the site.

Requirements :

  • Must have mechanical aptitude and ability to follow procedures to make component-level repairs using ESD best practices.
  • Requires a good understanding of the general / technical aspects of the job.
  • Must be familiar with basic Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to maintain successful communication and working relationships with management, peers, and customers at all levels.
  • Ability to work both solo and within a team structure.
  • Able to work with a pallet jack and data center server lifting tools. Must be able to lift to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods without assistance.
  • A basic understanding of Storage theory, Server layout, and Network concepts is a plus.
  • US Citizenship is required.
