Job summary

The Rapid Group is seeking a skilled Field Technician to troubleshoot, diagnose, disassemble, evaluate, and repair wastewater pumps, booster pumps, and other rotating equipment at customer locations. This field-based role is hands-on and essential to ensuring operational reliability for municipal, industrial, and commercial clients.

The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, experience with pumps and rotating equipment, and the ability to provide quality service directly in the field.

Qualifications

• Experience troubleshooting and repairing pumps, motors, or rotating equipment preferred.
• Ability to replace seals, bearings, packing, and mechanical components.
• Familiarity with preventative maintenance and field service repair processes.
• Knowledge of OSHA job site safety requirements.
• Valid driver’s license required for field-based work.

Responsibilities

• Perform field testing, inspection, equipment startups, and operating performance evaluations on centrifugal and positive displacement pumps.
• Replace packing, mechanical seals, bearings, and components in pumps, motors, blowers, generators, and related equipment.
• Conduct precision alignment of motors and pumps.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, disassemble, and repair rotating equipment including pumps, motors, and mechanical systems.
• Evaluate pump systems to determine the cause of failure and required repairs.
• Assist with removal and reinstallation of pumps and equipment at customer sites.
• Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on customer equipment.
• Document detailed information on work orders including pump data and service notes.
• Follow job site safety standards and maintain a clean, safe working environment.
