Field Technician I

We are looking for a new member to join our solution-oriented MET and RSU team in the renewable energy industry. Job Summary:

As a Field Technician I, you’ll be a key part of a dynamic team responsible for constructing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and dismantling wind and solar equipment across diverse U.S. locations. This is a travel-intensive position, ideal for those who enjoy hands-on outdoor work and thrive in new environments and challenges. You will spend 1-2 weeks at a time in the field, staying in hotels and working in various weather conditions. This role offers the opportunity to explore different regions, contribute to renewable energy, and be part of a safety-focused crew.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Perform technical tasks at various sites to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and decommission meteorological towers or remote sensing units.
  2. Complete daily safety documentation (Job Hazard Analysis) to ensure a safe work environment.
  3. Communicate effectively with the manager through Slack for daily updates and coordination.
  4. Log hours daily for DOT compliance and accurately track time in ADP for timecards.
  5. Drive and operate DOT-certified trucks and trailers safely in the field.
  6. Clean, maintain, and inventory tools and equipment.
  7. Travel frequently to project sites for extended stays (1-2 weeks).
  8. Build knowledge of tower operations under the guidance of a lead technician.
  9. Safely operate heavy machinery and use hand and power tools.
  10. Participate in project planning with team input.
  11. Act professionally across diverse sites, including remote and construction areas.
  12. Maintain a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • No previous experience required; training provided.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
  • Perform manual labor safely.
  • Stand for up to 12 hours a day.

Compensation:

Base Pay: $20.00 - $23.00/hour, hourly, non-exempt. When traveling, team members earn daily per diem and overtime.

Estimated annual take-home pay ranges from $47,840 to $54,080, plus per diem.

Career Path: Opportunities to advance from Field Tech Tier I to Tier II, Lead, and Tier III, with pay increases and potential to earn $30+ / hour as a Lead.
