Job summary

SCS Engineers is seeking a Field Technician to service the North Los Angeles County area. The role involves operating and maintaining gas migration control/recovery systems, performing routine monitoring, sampling, calibration, and field maintenance, and reporting data to supervisors and clients.

No experience is required, but related mechanical, construction, environmental, or solid waste field experience is preferred. A valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license with a driving record in good standing is required.
• Must meet physical requirements for driving and field inspection (up to 50 lbs) and ability to work in varying weather.
• Mechanical or construction knowledge is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain gas collection system and field equipment including wells, probes, headers, blowers, and flares.
• Perform routine gas well monitoring, sampling, calibration, and maintenance.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and adjust gas migration control/recovery systems.
• Record and report daily field observations and data to supervisor and clients.
• Work independently or as part of a team while following safety procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Operate vehicle and travel to different sites in the North Los Angeles County area.

Job description

A Field Technician operates and manages gas migration control/recovery systems including gas well monitoring and adjustment, troubleshooting, and system repairs. We are looking for a Field Technician to service the North Los Angeles County area.

How you can make an impact

You will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions by:

• Operate and maintain gas collection system on a cost-effective basis to keep systems operating and in compliance with different prescribed operating parameters and goals, including:
  • Routine wellfield balancing and maintenance
  • Routine blower / flare operations
  • Surface emissions monitoring
• Field sampling of different test locations including wells, probes, headers, blowers, flares, pumps, etc.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain various analytical and monitoring equipment.
• Perform maintenance activities such as greasing blowers, cleaning tanks, fusing pipe, and repairing pumps just to name a few.
• Collect and evaluate/interpret scientific data; Communicate observations and technical data verbally and in writing with supervisor and clients.
• Perform work independently or as a team member in a professional, productive and safe manner, adopting the principles of SCS’ safety culture.
• Understand and follow regulatory requirements related to the work.
• Record and maintain daily field logs reporting data collected, field observations, actions taken, and recommended actions to be taken.
• Work independently after training is completed
• Assigned a work truck that includes fuel and maintenance

Qualifications

• Must meet physical requirements for driving (pick-up truck), walking inspection of improved and unimproved property, lifting and carrying equipment/mechanical components (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), hand excavation/digging (using shovels/picks), carrying and climbing ladders, operating and working from man lifts, operating electric tools (drills, saws, etc.), using hand tools (screw drivers, wrenches, hammers, etc.) and providing services under varying weather conditions

Pay Range

USD $25.00 – USD $27.00 /Hr.
