Harnish Group Inc. is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team in Tukwila, WA. You will travel to customer sites using a company truck to diagnose, repair, and maintain Caterpillar (CAT) equipment, ensuring uptime at the job site.

The ideal candidate brings 3–5 years of CAT maintenance experience, a valid driver's license, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. Domestic travel is required; CAT dealership background is preferred.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of heavy equipment mechanic/technician experience (education may substitute for up to 2 years)
• Valid driver's license; ability to operate forklifts and related equipment
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; strong written and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair Caterpillar equipment including removal, repair, assembly and installation
• Troubleshoot engines, powertrains, electrical, and hydraulic systems
• Use CAT diagnostic equipment and repair tooling, rigging, and blocking gear
• Plan and organize multiple projects with focus on controlling job costs
• Investigate problems and recommend effective solutions
• Communicate clearly with customers and internal teams using software

Description

About the Position:

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team. This technician will use a company truck to travel to customer sites to diagnose, repair, and maintain CAT equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnosing and repairing Caterpillar equipment, including removing, repairing, assembling, and installing
• Diagnosing and troubleshooting engines, powertrains, electrical, and hydraulic systems
• Using CAT diagnostic equipment, CAT repair tooling, rigging, and blocking equipment
• Planning and organizing multiple projects with an emphasis on controlling job costs
• Investigating, analyzing, and identifying problems to make recommendations
• Communicating effectively with a variety of people, using strong interpersonal and writing skills for utilizing internal software and other software programs

Qualifications:

• 3-5 years of heavy equipment mechanic / technician experience (Technical education may substitute for up to 2 years of this experience)
• Valid driver's license (used for potential forklift driving and operation of equipment such as hydraulic and mechanical presses, hoists, cranes, pressure washers, etc.)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products and Outlook
• Ability to stand up to eight hours per day, including twisting, bending, squatting, sitting, stooping, and kneeling
• Flexibility to travel for extended periods to work with customers
• Experience working at a Caterpillar (CAT) dealership or with CAT products is ideal
