Job summary

NV5 is seeking a Field Utility Services - Field Technician to support utility infrastructure documentation and field data collection using mobile data capture tools and reality capture platforms. This entry-level role involves collecting high-quality geospatial imagery and utility asset data, while supporting engineering and asset management projects.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, enjoys outdoor work, and is eager to advance into engineering, survey, and project management paths.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience with field data capture and GIS-enabled platforms is a plus.
• Familiarity with GPS/GNSS data collection equipment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate scanning and reality capture equipment to collect utility asset and infrastructure data.
• Capture georeferenced imagery and field documentation for utility, telecommunications, transportation, and civil infrastructure projects.
• Perform field data collection activities along utility corridors, rights-of-way, roadways, and construction sites.
• Verify asset locations and document field conditions using mobile applications and GIS-enabled platforms.
• Upload, organize, and maintain project data in accordance with company quality standards.
• Assist senior field staff with utility investigations, site assessments, and infrastructure documentation.
• Record measurements, field notes, photographs, and observations during project activities.
• Support utility mapping and asset inventory projects through accurate data capture and reporting.
• Interpreted utility mapping records and as-builts.
• Perform routine equipment inspections, maintenance, and operational checks.
• Adhere to company safety policies, local regulations, and project-specific requirements.
• Maintain communication with project managers and field supervisors regarding project progress and field conditions.
