Job summary

GFL Environmental Services is seeking a Field Technician in Baytown, TX to manage waste operations on-site. You will collect, label, and prepare waste for shipment, operate forklifts, and support spill response and compliance tasks as part of Team Green.

The role requires outdoor work in varying weather, strong communication, and the ability to wear PPE. Flexible schedules, overtime, and weekend work may be needed to support turnaround events and compliance goals.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in an industrial facility, refinery, plant, environmental, or waste management environment preferred.
• Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and industrial environments.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to wear PPE, including respirators and protective clothing.
• Willingness to work flexible schedules, overtime, weekends, and turnaround events as needed.

Responsibilities

• Manage waste containers, drums, trailers, and roll-off boxes throughout the facility.
• Collect, transport, label, sample, and prepare waste for shipment and disposal.
• Load and unload containers, drums, and equipment using forklifts and other site equipment.
• Perform waste sampling, profiling, classification, and documentation activities.
• Complete manifests, shipping paperwork, labels, and waste tracking documentation.
• Respond to spills, environmental incidents, and emergency response situations.
• Deploy containment and control materials during spill response activities.
• Communicate with site personnel and customers regarding waste management needs.
