Job summary

Jacobs seeks a hands-on field professional to support environmental engineers, geologists, scientists, and other experts on diverse projects in Minot, ND. The role is 75–90% field-based with time split between field activities and documentation, logistics, data entry, and sample management.

The ideal candidate enjoys outdoor work, problem-solving, and operating field equipment while adhering to safety practices and project schedules.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of environmental, technical, industrial, remediation, construction, field, laboratory, or related experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to perform fieldwork in industrial environments and wear PPE, including a respirator when required.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and terrain.
• Ability to stand or walk for extended periods and lift/carry field equipment up to 50 pounds.
• Strong communication, teamwork, organizational, and documentation skills.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• 40-hour HAZWOPER certification or ability to obtain certification.
• Ability to obtain and maintain TWIC if required.
• Ability to travel up to 75% as project needs require.
• Authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Support environmental investigation, monitoring, compliance, and remediation projects under supervision.
• Perform environmental field sampling (groundwater, soil, sediment, surface water, air, etc.).
• Conduct remediation system inspections, monitoring, operation, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting.
• Collect field data and maintain field notes, chain-of-custody, and documentation.
• Assist with subcontractor oversight and coordination of field activities.
• Support equipment operation, maintenance, calibration, and field supplies logistics.
• Package and ship environmental samples per procedures.
• Assist with data entry, project documentation, and reporting support.
• Utilize field instruments, GPS, mobile data apps, and other tech equipment.
• Follow health, safety and environmental procedures and support Jacobs’ safety commitment.
• Communicate effectively with project teams, subcontractors, and client reps to support project execution.
