Job summary

GMV seeks a Field Technician to install, configure and troubleshoot onboard hardware and integrated systems on transit vehicles across the United States. You will work directly at customer sites with autonomy, collaborating with Customer Success, Operations and Engineering teams, and ensuring successful deployments.

The role requires 1–3 years of technical experience, hands-on problem solving, and willingness to travel nationwide.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of technical experience, preferably with heavy-duty vehicles, electronics or related systems.
• Hands-on technical work, troubleshooting and direct customer interaction are valued.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site surveys and vehicle inspections to gather data for installations.
• Install, configure, troubleshoot and repair onboard hardware and integrated systems on transit vehicles.
• Work with vehicle electrical systems, including power sources, fuses and converters.
• Review project documents and carry out field activities per requirements and procedures.
• Manage travel, field activities and priorities to complete installations on schedule.
• Coordinate with customers regarding vehicle availability, installation activities and basic training.
• Document installations via field reports, photos and observations.
• Provide timely updates and escalate issues to Operations, Engineering and Customer Success.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Operations to identify and resolve field issues.
• Coordinate with third-party contractors and verify installations meet quality standards.
• Track parts, equipment and inventory prior to installation.

Our systems include onboard hardware, communications, GPS tracking, passenger information and operational technologies that help make transit work.

WHAT CHALLENGE WILL YOU BE TAKING ON?

As a Field Technician, you will work directly at customer sites across the United States, supporting the installation, configuration and troubleshooting of onboard hardware and integrated systems on transit vehicles.

You will have autonomy in the field while working closely with our Customer Success, Operations and Engineering teams to deliver successful deployments and solve technical challenges in real operating environments.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting site surveys and vehicle inspections to gather the technical information required to prepare installations.
• Installing, configuring, troubleshooting and repairing onboard hardware and integrated systems on transit vehicles.
• Working with vehicle electrical systems, including power sources, fuses, converters and related components.
• Reviewing project documentation and Statements of Work (SOW) and carrying out field activities according to established requirements and procedures.
• Managing travel schedules, field activities and project priorities to complete installations and service work on schedule.
• Coordinating directly with customers regarding vehicle availability, installation activities and basic system training.
• Documenting installations through field reports, photographs, technical observations and other required project records.
• Providing timely project updates and escalating technical issues to Operations, Engineering and Customer Success teams.
• Collaborating with Engineering and Operations to identify, troubleshoot and resolve issues encountered in the field.
• Coordinating with third-party contractors and verifying that installations meet company quality standards.
• Tracking project parts, equipment and materials, and verifying onsite inventory before installation work begins.

WHAT DO WE NEED IN OUR TEAM?

We are looking for someone with 1 to 3 years of technical experience, preferably working with heavy-duty vehicles, electronics or related systems.

For this position, we are particularly interested in people who enjoy hands-on technical work, troubleshooting and working directly with customers. A strong sense of ownership, accountability and attention to detail will be important for succeeding in the role.

As this is a field-based position, travel is required, with assignments at customer sites across the country.

We will also value experience or knowledge related to:

• Vehicle electrical systems and electronic equipment.
• Installation, configuration, maintenance or troubleshooting of hardware systems.
• Technical documentation and field reporting.
• Working directly with customers, contractors and multidisciplinary technical teams.
