Job summary

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Field Technician for the Company’s Field Services organization to support FAA contracts in the Buffalo, NY area. The role involves field installation, network testing, and equipment maintenance, with travel within a 3-hour radius from Buffalo.

Candidates must obtain FAA security clearance and manage multiple tasks in a high‑stress environment. Essential duties include configuring routers/switches, testing networks, and installing racks and power supplies.

Qualifications

• Requires highly developed job knowledge/skills.
• Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
• Obtain and maintain a DOT Public Trust Security Clearance and a DOD Secret Clearance.
• Possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License and/or local US State REAL ID equivalent and a satisfactory driving record.

Responsibilities

• Support FAA contracts FTI, ADSB, DCNS and other FSG programs.
• Install equipment racks (wallmount, raised floors, concrete, etc.).
• Configure routers and switches in field environments.
• Perform power testing (AC/DC) including 24VDC/48VDC supplies.
• Test network and circuit performance per Bell Core standards.
• Travel to FAA site locations within a 3 hour drive from Buffalo, NY area.
• Maintain FAA security clearance and meet background check requirements.
• Provide field support in NY airspaces and be on-call as needed.
• Ensure high levels of customer service in high-stress environments.

Job Description:

L3Harris Technologies is looking for a Field Technician for the Company’s Field Services organization supporting the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This role will be responsible for field support in NY airspaces. Field technician will support FAA contracts FTI, ADSB, DCNS and any other FSG programs.

Essential Functions:

• Good working knowledge of cable connectors and replacement, such as RJ-11, RJ-45, DB-25, V.35, RS-449

• Have an excellent working knowledge of fiber, working knowledge of Multiplexes, Network topology, Frame Relay, Fractional T-1, SONET Network Technology, ATM, Private Line, Voice and Data applications

• Good working knowledge of power testing, AC and DC including 3 Phase AC. Familiar with configuration and operation of the 24VDC & 48 VDC power supplies.

• Experience with network and circuit testing with T1 Testing Specifications, DS3 Testing, Digital Testing (BERT), and Analog VG Testing within Bell Core Standards.

• Working knowledge and usage of various network test equipment: JDSU HST, Ameritech AM5XT, Sage 935, Digital Oscilloscope, Halcyon 704A, Para-scope or other T1/DS3 Test sets.

• IP Based knowledge with experience configuring routers and switches

• Experience installing equipment racks (wallmount, raised floors, concrete, etc.)

• Travel to FAA site locations within a 3 hour drive from Buffalo, NY area

• Candidate must be able to obtain FAA Security Clearance from Public Trust background investigation

  Qualifications:

• Capable of utilizing ladders, and step stools, to reach heights of approx. 10 feet

• Willingness and/or ability to work outside regularly scheduled hours to meet operational needs and to respond to after-hours emergency calls as required.

  In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in the Buffalo, NY area is $54,500 - $104,500. The salary range for this role in Buffalo, NY is $54,500 - $104,500.
