Job summary

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Field Technician C to support FAA programs across remote sites within the New Orleans metro area. The role involves installation, maintenance, and testing of networking and telecom equipment at customer locations, with daily commuting to sites.

You will operate independently, read drawings and task orders, and coordinate with NOCC and Helpdesk. A high school diploma and relevant experience are required, with security clearances potential.

Qualifications

• Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
• Experience with fiber, Carrier Ethernet, Multiplexes, DACS, Routers/Switches, Network topology, Frame Relay, Fractional T-1, SONET Network Technology, ATM, Private Line, Voice, and Data applications.
• Experience with cable connectors and replacements including RJ-11, RJ-45, DB-25, V.35, RS-449, BNC and 50 pin Amphenol.
• Experience power testing (AC and DC). Familiar with 24VDC & 48 VDC power supplies, backup power supplies and site grounding.
• Experience with network equipment login and circuit testing using various test equipment.

Job Description

Remote field technician for L3Harris (Field Services Division) that resides within the New Orleans metropolitan area, supporting multiple programs/systems for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) who can perform installation and maintenance on a variety of Networking and Telecommunication equipment at customer locations. The position requires daily commuting to and from customer remote locations (indoor & outdoor) within your assigned area. Remote field technicians must be able to work independently with little supervision and possess good written/verbale communication skills.

Essential Functions

• Provide technical support for each specific program/system (FTI, MS, ADS-B, DCNS, WMSS and others) L3Harris supports for the FAA.
• Install, repair, configure, test and complete preventative maintenance on a variety of equipment at the customers’ remote locations.
• Able to work remotely in a scheduled and on-call capacity to various customer locations within your assigned area. Occasionally travelling to remote sites outside your assigned area may be needed from time to time to assist with the FAA customer needs and/or requests.
• Able to read/understand/follow equipment drawings and task orders.
• Possess good admin skills (taking notes and documenting what transpired while working at the customer location).
• Work directly with the NOCC, the SAC, and the Helpdesk over the phone on resolving issues in the field.
• Maintain tools, test equipment, parts/electronics, truck stock inventory and personal or company vehicle.
• Be proactive and prepared for assigned tasks prior to dispatching.
• Able to work outside regularly scheduled hours (on-call) when/if needed to meet customer’s needs.
• Lift items up to 32 lbs. and use ladders and step stools to reach heights of approximately 10ft.
• Work with your supervisor (ASL) to ensure all L3Harris policies/procedures and program specific policies/procedures are followed.
• Obtain and maintain a DOT Public Trust Security Clearance and a DOD Secret Clearance.
• Possess and maintains a valid Driver’s License and/or local US State REAL ID equivalent and a satisfactory driving record.

Qualifications
