Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a Support Technician in Wisconsin to perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on climate control rental equipment. The role blends shop work with field assignments to set up and adjust equipment at customer sites.

You will diagnose faults, perform light repairs, and coordinate service needs while ensuring safety and reliability throughout the rental lifecycle.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of small engine knowledge and mechanical ability.
• Hands-on maintenance on climate control equipment or similar mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on climate control rental equipment, including air compressors, hydronic heaters, ground thaw equipment, air conditioners, and related gear.
• Inspect and service units to ensure safe, reliable operation before and after rentals.

• Maintain a clean, organized shop, wash bay, and yard.

• Process rental contracts, service work, and invoices accurately and promptly.
• Support loading/unloading of equipment with safe handling and documentation.
• Respond to outside service calls to minimize customer downtime and perform on-site repairs.
• Communicate clearly with customers about work performed and equipment status.
• Learn and follow operating procedures for all equipment and explain procedures to customers.
• Monitor product availability and equipment readiness to support rentals.
• Keep wash bay and yard neat, clean, and safe to sustain operations.
• Participate in on-the-job and factory training to stay current with equipment technology.

Job Title: Support Technician

Job Description

The Support Technician performs preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on a wide range of climate control rental equipment, including heaters, ground thaw units, air conditioning systems, and related machinery. This role is primarily shop-based with frequent onsite work to assist in equipment setup at customer job sites. The position combines hands-on mechanical and electrical work with customer-facing responsibilities, ensuring equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably throughout the rental lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on climate control rental equipment, including air compressors (diesel and gasoline), hydronic heaters, ground thaw equipment, air conditioners, concealed/indirect/direct fire heaters, electrical heaters, fans, HEPA air scrubbers, and dehumidifiers.
• Clean, inspect, and maintain rental equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation before and after each rental.
• Investigate and diagnose equipment faults and failures, identify root causes, and recommend appropriate repair solutions.
• Complete light repairs on rental fleet equipment and customer-owned equipment, following established procedures and safety standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment, including work areas, wash bay, and yard.
• Perform day-to-day tasks such as pressure washing equipment, checking equipment for proper operation, servicing and maintaining components, conducting part lookups, and preparing repair estimates.
• Assist with field work by traveling to job sites to set up, start up, or adjust equipment as needed.
• Answer phone calls from customers with equipment on rent, provide basic troubleshooting support, and coordinate service needs.
• Process paperwork related to rental contracts, service work, and invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
• Assist with loading and unloading rental equipment, ensuring safe handling and proper documentation.
• Perform simple maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on the rental fleet, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Respond to outside rental service calls as needed, providing onsite support and repair to minimize customer downtime.
• Complete light customer service repairs and communicate clearly with customers about work performed and equipment status.
• Understand customer needs and ensure those needs are met promptly, professionally, and with a focus on long-term relationships.
• Resolve rental-related concerns and disputes fairly and quickly to maintain strong customer relationships.
• Learn and maintain operating procedures for all rental equipment and clearly explain correct operating procedures to customers.
• Monitor product availability and equipment readiness, ensuring units are maintained and presented in a way that encourages rentals.
• Ensure the wash bay and yard remain neat, clean, and organized to support efficient operations and a safe workplace.
• Participate in on-the-job training and factory-specific training sessions to stay current with equipment technology and best practices.

Essential Skills

• Ability to read and understand parts diagrams, schematics, and technical materials needed to diagnose and repair equipment.
• Ability to lift 50-75 pounds regularly or occasionally and perform physical tasks such as standing, sitting, kneeling, bending, and reaching to complete repairs.
• Ability to work outdoors in both hot and cold weather when required for field calls or equipment set
