Scale Computing is seeking a skilled Field Technician to deploy pre-configured network, firewall, and server equipment at customer locations, including restaurants, convenience stores, and retail environments. You will perform structured cabling, install hardware, and ensure high-quality service delivery with minimal supervision.

The role requires hands-on technical knowledge, strong attention to detail, and excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years in field technician roles involving hardware installations, cabling, and network equipment deployment.
• Certifications preferred: CompTIA Network+ or similar.
• Strong troubleshooting and customer service skills.

Responsabilités

• Deploy pre-configured network, firewall, and server equipment according to project specifications and customer requirements.
• Perform structured cabling tasks, including pulling, running, terminating, and testing Ethernet and fiber optic cables.
• Install and connect hardware, ensuring proper functionality and integration with existing infrastructure.
• Conduct site surveys to assess existing infrastructure and determine cabling or equipment needs.
• Troubleshoot and resolve connectivity or deployment issues during installation.
• Travel to customer locations within an assigned region and complete work on time with minimal supervision.

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Field Technician to join our team, specializing in the deployment of pre-configured network, firewall, and server equipment. This position will require hands-on expertise in running and terminating network cabling, installing and connecting pre-configured hardware, and ensuring high-quality service delivery at customer locations, including restaurants, convenience stores, and retail environments.

As a Field Technician, you will play a critical role in deploying secure and reliable IT infrastructure at various locations. This role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and excellent customer service skills.

This position may be subject to an increased in-office presence in the future based on business needs.

Responsibilities

• Deploy pre-configured network, firewall, and server equipment according to project specifications and customer requirements.
• Perform structured cabling tasks, including pulling, running, terminating, and testing Ethernet and fiber optic cables.
• Install and connect hardware, ensuring proper functionality and integration with existing infrastructure.
• Conduct site surveys to assess existing infrastructure and determine cabling or equipment needs.
• Troubleshoot and resolve connectivity or deployment issues during installation.
• Coordinate with internal teams and customers to ensure a smooth deployment process and minimal downtime.
• Maintain accurate documentation of installations, configurations, and site-specific details.
• Conduct quality checks on installed systems to confirm functionality and adherence to company standards.
• Provide basic end-user support and training for deployed equipment, as needed.
• Follow safety guidelines and best practices when working with electrical systems and cabling in commercial environments.
• Travel to customer locations within an assigned region and complete work on time with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications (Preferred): CompTIA Network+, or similar certifications.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose and resolve deployment and connectivity issues efficiently.
• Communication: Strong interpersonal and customer service skills to interact effectively with clients and team members.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work in tight spaces as needed.

Education & Experience

• Experience: Minimum of 3 years in field technician roles involving hardware installations, cabling, and network equipment deployment.
• Technical Skills: Familiarity with pre-configured hardware from brands like Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Ubiquiti, or similar. Experience with server equipment deployment is a plus.
• Cabling Expertise: Skilled in running, terminating, and testing Ethernet (Cat5e, Cat6, etc.)

Additional Requirements

• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel to customer sites.
• Flexibility to work evenings or weekends, as required by project schedules.
• Familiarity with restaurant, convenience store, or retail environments is a plus.
• Knowledge of network security best practices is desirable
