Job summary

Terracon is seeking a Training and Development Lead to elevate field staff capabilities across materials testing and environmental teams. You will design and deliver training, mentor staff, and participate in hiring and onboarding, ensuring safety and quality standards are met at multiple sites.

You will advance staff certifications, supervise practical testing activities, and coordinate with project managers to integrate training into project workflows.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with materials testing and inspection.
• Experience providing training and development to others preferred.
• A valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history may be required.

Responsibilities

• Train entry-level staff in basic field test procedures and report preparation.
• Develop and enhance training materials, procedures and processes.
• Support the hiring process by evaluating applicants.
• Assist with orientation for new employees including timesheets and Terracon systems.
• Mentor and support staff development and certifications.
• Advance training for experienced staff to qualify for more certifications.
• Conduct site safety check-ins and safe driving evaluations.
• Perform field visits to observe staff, review reporting, and verify procedures.
• Provide training on safe-right procedures and construction site safety.
• Evaluate employee performance using Terracon’s certification processes.
• Train staff to maintain, calibrate and operate field equipment.
• May perform project management, QA and/or field testing in addition to training.
• Follow safety rules, report safety concerns, and maintain quality across projects.
