Job summary

Minerals Technologies Inc. is seeking a hands-on Technical Service Representative to support refractory products in steel mills across North America, including the Martinsburg, WV area. You will perform on-site repairs, read schematics, and collaborate with plant operations to improve equipment performance.

The role requires strong mechanical and electrical skills, willingness to travel for outages, and a focus on safety and customer service in high-temperature environments.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical certification (or equivalent experience).
• 3+ years in steel, refractory, or heavy industrial field service.
• Strong mechanical skills (hydraulics, rotating equipment, material handling).
• Electrical knowledge (motors, controls, drives, basic PLC troubleshooting).
• Ability to read technical drawings and schematics.
• Strong problem-solving and customer-facing skills.
• Willingness to travel and support outages/shutdowns.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site support for refractory systems (EAF, BOF, ladles, tundish, furnaces).
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues in high-temperature industrial environments.
• Support installation, commissioning, dry-outs, and repairs of refractory linings.
• Evaluate wear, failures, and process conditions; recommend improvements.
• Read and interpret drawings, schematics, and process diagrams.
• Partner with plant operations, maintenance, and engineering teams.
• Complete service reports and support root cause analysis (RCA).
• Follow all plant safety requirements (LOTO, confined space, PPE).
