Job summary

Great American Insurance Group is seeking a seasoned environmental insurance professional to join its Environmental Division in a hybrid Cincinnati area role. The position emphasizes expert guidance on complex risk evaluation, regulatory compliance, and portfolio performance optimization.

The ideal candidate will bring 8–10 years in Environmental Insurance, a relevant bachelor’s degree, and strong analytical capabilities with tech fluency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, business administration, finance or related field.
• 8–10 years of experience in Environmental Insurance.
• Knowledge of policy forms, filings, and product development processes.
• Prior reinsurance experience is preferred.
• Strong analytical skills and comfort with technology.

Responsibilities

• Delivers expert guidance on policies, procedures, and risk evaluation for highly complex or high-exposure cases.
• Establishes and interprets company guidelines, regulatory requirements, and industry standards to ensure compliance and profitability.
• Provide support on specialty financial based or other accounts as necessary.
• Responsible for growing and maintaining the closure/post closure book of business.
• Serve as subject matter expert for various training programs developed by the Division.
• Participate in file audit program and assist CUO in development of more robust product line audit program.
• Work with the Division President, CUO, and Underwriting Director on annual data call and submission development for reinsurance treaty renewal.
• Provides support with gathering and evaluating data for Division and Home Office reporting.
• Work with the CUO on various Division projects including update of existing forms and endorsements, creation of new forms and endorsements, regulatory affairs, Guidelines, policies, and other protocols.
• Helps analyze and forecast portfolio and segment performance; develops and recommends strategic appetite, pricing, and workflow initiatives to optimize results.
• Support the development and implementation of regulatory filings, policy language, endorsements, and insurance procedures, ensuring legal review, form control, system updates, and change management are completed in partnership with key stakeholders.
• Collaborates with insurance, product, compliance, and distribution teams to resolve escalated issues and align on risk strategies.

• Collaborates with insurance, product, compliance, and distribution teams to resolve escalated issues and align on risk strategies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, business administration, finance or related field.
• Generally, 8-10 years of experience in Environmental Insurance.
• Prior reinsurance experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of policy forms, filings, and product development processes.
• Must have strong analytical skills and a high comfort level with technology.
