Job summary

AcreLink builds buried soil moisture sensor networks for irrigated farms in California and Utah. We seek a hands-on team member based near deployment sites who can be trained to install and maintain sensor hardware in the field. The role starts with paid training and can grow as our California footprint expands.

Responsibilities include shadowing installs, independent site work, periodic checks, thorough documentation, and scheduling visits. Travel to Central Valley grower sites is required.

Qualifications

• Prefer enrollment in an agribusiness or ag engineering program.
• Ability to work with power tools and outdoors in varying conditions.
• Interest in electronics and following technical procedures exactly.
• Willingness to travel to grower sites across Central Valley.

About the role: AcreLink builds buried soil moisture sensor networks for irrigated farms in California and Utah. We're looking for someone based near our active deployment sites who can be trained to install and maintain sensor hardware in the field. This starts as paid, hands-on training alongside our founder and can grow into a recurring role as our California footprint expands.

Responsibilities:

• Shadow and assist with sensor system installs (soil sensors, buried enclosures, solar-powered gateway units) at grower sites
• Once trained, independently install systems at additional sites per a documented checklist and photo/video confirmation process
• Perform periodic site checks on existing installations: visual inspection, status light checks, basic troubleshooting per a provided guide
• Document every visit thoroughly (photos, GPS location, checklist completion) before sign-off
• Coordinate scheduling with our office contact for site visit windows
• As the role grows, conduct basic site assessments (soil type, cell signal, site access) for prospective installs

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in an agribusiness, ag mechanization, ag engineering, or related technical program preferred
• Mechanically inclined (comfortable with power tools, digging, wiring, and outdoor physical work)
• Comfortable with basic electronics and following technical procedures precisely
• Reliable vehicle and willingness to travel to grower sites across the Central Valley
• Detail-oriented and comfortable documenting work thoroughly
• Available for occasional weekday or weekend site visits, coordinated in advance

Compensation:

Flat rate per completed install or site visit (rate discussed based on scope)
