After all, we have an aggressive plan to become the third-largest U.S. grocery retailer. This team supports the procurement and development of each location, working on details such as store layouts and fixtures. Your skills can contribute to our success and your own.

In this role, the Field Systems Engineer will be responsible for supporting field investigations, commissioning, and training stakeholders on refrigeration, HVAC, and control systems within our stores. The ideal candidate will collaborate with ALDI Facilities and Construction teams and equipment manufacturers to coordinate strategic initiatives and resolve complex mechanical issues. Experience with refrigeration, HVAC, and building management & control systems (BMCS) is essential. The role also involves educating and training others on these systems, with an educational background in HVACR, Mechanical Engineering, Commissioning, Electrical, or Computer Engineering. The objective is to support and educate internal and external stakeholders on deployed technologies to enhance energy efficiency, system uptime, and sustainability.

Starting Salary: $127,500
Salary Increases: Year 2 - $135,000 | Year 3 - $142,500
Work Location: Dublin, OH
This is a fully remote position requiring domestic travel to store locations across the U.S.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure training, development, and performance of team staff to maintain a motivated workforce.
  • Recruit and recommend qualified employees.
  • Establish and communicate job responsibilities and performance expectations.
  • Model company values to foster teamwork.
  • Advise on building operations and controls for stores and facilities.
  • Support sustainability initiatives through technology and mechanical systems.
  • Collaborate with design professionals to keep drawings accurate.
  • Advise Facilities and Real Estate teams on contractor performance and training.
  • Engage with equipment manufacturers and vendors to address concerns.
  • Coordinate with government officials, utility companies, and suppliers on projects.
  • Facilitate communication among various teams and stakeholders.
  • Assist leadership in developing team strategies.
  • Source external vendors when appropriate.
  • Maintain effective communication flow across divisions.
  • Design and streamline processes within the organization.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and communicate updates.
  • Utilize knowledge of refrigeration, HVAC, and controls to oversee site installations and commissioning.
  • Attend and audit site equipment installations, start-ups, and maintenance, providing detailed reports.
  • Support diagnosing field issues on-site and recommend solutions.
  • Provide training to internal teams and contractors.
  • Document site visits thoroughly.
  • Optimize BMCS for ALDI through collaboration.
  • Track and report on cost-savings and measures taken.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Review market pricing and technology advances regularly.
  • Use reports and KPIs to identify issues and take corrective actions.
  • Support remote performance reviews and asset management.
  • Report on issues, asset replacements, and cost control initiatives.
  • Manage scope of mechanical systems projects.
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of data.
  • Report findings regularly to leadership.
  • Evaluate bids from vendors.
  • Support projects related to BMCS and EMS to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Drive modernization of refrigeration, HVAC, and BMCS systems.
  • Understand design and best practices for these systems.
  • Coordinate with leadership on KPIs and workload.
  • Communicate with internal and external partners about system findings.
  • Assist in implementing strategic initiatives and resolving complex issues.
  • Contribute to global committees and projects.
  • Drive specifications for refrigeration and HVAC prototypes.
  • Lead projects and tasks through effective prioritization and collaboration.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Serve as a link between staff and leadership to ensure alignment with company goals.
  • Comply with privacy and security policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Experience in training others on technical systems preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.

Physical Requirements:

  • Office and remote work in various environments.
  • Use of tools in construction settings.
  • Regular movement, sitting, reaching, grasping, standing.
  • Occasional lifting up to 75 lbs.

Travel:

  • Domestic travel up to 70% required.
