Job summary

Sumitomo Electric in Superior Township, MI is seeking a Field Systems Engineer on a contract basis to deliver on-site diagnostics, fleet support, software deployment, and calibration across prototype fleets. You will respond to fleet issues, perform ECU flashing, and ensure testing operations stay active.

You will work with ETAS INCA, Vector/ETAS tools, CAN/LIN/Automotive Ethernet, and HV EV systems, traveling up to 70% to regional vehicle sites in the US and Korea data sharing.

Qualifications

• 3+ years hands-on vehicle engineering experience in EV or ADAS/Autonomous environments
• Expert-level proficiency with ETAS INCA, Vector or ETAS data logging tools
• Deep understanding of CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet
• Strong HV EV systems knowledge and ECMs
• Proven ability to record, analyse CAN traffic
• Troubleshooting vehicle control, chassis and electrical systems

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical responder for fleet issues
• Provide on-call support to ensure testing operations remain active
• Manage and execute deployment of software across prototype and pre-production fleets
• Execute ECU flashing operations on fleet vehicles
• Lead CAN/LIN/Automotive Ethernet traffic recording and analysis
• Travel to vehicle sites for on-site analysis and data collection
• Collaborate with project management to drive process improvements
