Job summary

Kiewit's Southeast District is seeking an experienced Surveyor to ensure precision and integrity of construction projects. The role is field-focused, collaborating with project engineers, site superintendents, and subcontractors to provide accurate data and real-time support for construction activities.

Responsibilities include establishing control points, managing survey teams, and maintaining data quality and safety standards across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years’ hands-on experience in construction surveying or related disciplines.
• Proficiency with Trimble surveying technology and associated software platforms.
• Strong mathematical fundamentals (algebra and geometry) for field calculations.
• Ability to independently organize work priorities in a fast-paced construction setting.
• Excellent communication skills to liaise with multi-disciplinary teams and present reports.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive field surveys to establish precise control points and layout reference lines.
• Lead and coordinate surveying operations on site, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with project management, engineering teams, and subcontractors to interpret plans and deliver survey data.
• Set up and maintain control networks across project sites and calibrate surveying instruments.
• Document as-built conditions and generate detailed reports and digital data sets.
• Troubleshoot technical challenges and adapt surveying methodologies to changing site conditions.
• Assist in training junior survey staff or subcontractors to uphold accuracy and safety standards.
• Maintain records of survey activities and back up data using specialized software.
• Participate in safety meetings and prioritize crew safety and environmental stewardship.
