Job summary

Mortenson Construction is seeking a Solar Surveyor I to perform survey and mapping of construction measurements and to advise the team during all stages of the project through direct surveys and layout support.

The role requires operating Trimble GPS equipment, performing basic surveying computations, and guiding new construction work through layout while maintaining accurate survey notes and site conditions. This is an entry-level position within a skilled surveying team.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of related construction experience.
• CTS Level 1 or equivalent preferred.
• Current driver's license.
• Ability to operate equipment including Base Station, SCS 900, GCS 900, and laser level.
• Detail orientation.
• Ability to work independently.
• Active listening and effective communication including openness to diverse input and feedback.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate Trimble GPS equipment, including base station, SCS 900 software, GCS 900, and laser level
• Care for, clean, and use surveying tools and equipment
• Perform basic surveying computations and plan reading
• Perform survey note taking
• Survey existing conditions of proposed work sites
• Guide new construction work through layout
• Verify locations of structures
• Build and maintain effective relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
• Perform all other duties as assigned
