Montgomery County is seeking an experienced Professional Surveyor to oversee daily field survey operations supporting roadways and bridges. The role includes supervising crews, managing projects, and coordinating with other county departments to ensure accurate data collection and deliverables.

The position requires developing boundary plats, legal descriptions for ROW, and producing reports and maps with GPS and CAD tools. Licensure as a Professional Surveyor or eligibility is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Land Surveying or related field.
  • 6 years related work experience.
  • Registered Professional Surveyor, or eligible to be licensed after Fundamentals of Surveying exam.

Job description

Position OverviewThis position is responsible for managing and overseeing day-to-day survey operations that support the design, construction and rehabilitation of county roadways and bridges. Responsibilities may include: providing professional surveying services (i.e., gather, analyze, interpret & certify survey data for projects); supervising assigned survey field crew on quality and survey methodology; overseeing and managing complex survey projects, while coordinating project activities with other departments; managing boundary/centerline plats for easements, and acting as the lead worker over survey field crew.Summary of Job DutiesManages the day-to-day operations of field survey initiatives for the county including supervising assigned crews, managing projects, coordinating projects with other departments, and managing technical aspects of survey work as a lead worker. Directs or conducts surveys in order to obtain survey data for engineering projects. Establishes legal boundaries for properties based on legal deeds and titles. Develops criteria for survey methods and procedures.Documents and prepares data using Global Positioning Systems (GPS), computer aided drafting, and other technologies.Analyzes data and surveys for the purposes of preparing plats of survey and legal descriptions for right-of-way acquisition, developing reports, maps, and other documents for the county.Researches ownership and county legal documentation to supplement field research activity.Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.Minimum Qualifications and RequirementsBachelor of Science in Land Surveying or other related field; 6 years related work experience. Registered Professional Surveyor, or capable of being licensed having already passed the fundamentals of surveying exam.
