Job summary

Pape-Dawson Engineers in Austin, TX is seeking a Project Surveyor to lead land surveying projects and mentor staff. This role is ideal for newly licensed surveyors looking to develop their expertise and grow in the profession.

Responsibilities include supervising field and office teams, coordinating with engineers and clients, delivering accurate field packages, and signing drawings and survey reports. This is a full‑time on‑site position with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

  • Licensed as a Professional Surveyor in the state of employment.
  • 0-4 years of experience as a Licensed Professional Surveyor.
  • Experience with ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, topographic surveys for design, and construction staking.
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to manage project budgets and invoicing.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with all levels of employees and clients.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Dependable and reliable with the ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to work Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm with overtime as needed.

  • Provide guidance and direction to Survey Technicians and Surveyors in Training.

  • Process acquired field data into neat and accurate plats of survey and/or Metes and Bounds descriptions.
  • Perform quality control reviews of drawings and legal descriptions prepared by others.
  • Resolve boundaries of properties and oversee boundary construction and related issues.
  • Sign and seal completed drawings, legal descriptions, and surveyor’s reports.
